Winterlake Lodge Named Most Unique in the World

Alpine Air Alaska - Friday, September 25, 2015

During the busy summer months, one or more of Alpine Air Alaska’s pilots can often be found at the prestigious Winterlake Lodge, which National Geographic has recently named one of their Unique Lodges of the World. This distinguished title is reserved for only 38 lodges in the world including three in the United States, but it could not be more deserved.

Winterlake Lodge offers its guests daily yoga, meals prepared by award-winning chefs, and adventures including kayaking or canoeing around the lake. Our helicopters supplement these activities all summer long with transportation to fantastic glacier viewing, fly fishing, and trekking in remote locations. The staff at Winterlake Lodge is second to none planning custom adventures to meet their guests’ every desire. What truly sets them apart is the owners’ dedication to sustainable adventure that has created a haven for wildlife rather than hunting the bear, moose, otters, and birds that call Winterlake their home.

Winterlake Lodge also embraces our Alaskan heritage by serving as the Finger Lake checkpoint for the annual Iditarod dogsled race. The lodge is home to numerous sled dogs, and guests in the winter are invited to attend the lodge's reputable dog-mushing school and participate in a once-in-a-lifetime Alaskan tradition.

We at Alpine Air Alaska tip our hat to our wonderful partners at Winterlake Lodge and congratulate them on this fantastic accomplishment!
